Watering eyes, nasur and DCR surgery in Vadodara

An eye that keeps watering may have a blocked tear duct, but the eyelid or the eye surface can also be the cause. Dr. Samir Serasiya finds the reason first, then offers watering eye treatment, including DCR surgery in Vadodara when it is needed.

A blocked tear duct is often called nasur (નાસુર).

Common signs

  • Tears spill down your cheek
  • Sticky discharge or swelling at the inner corner of the eye
  • Watering that gets in the way of reading, driving or work

How we treat it

Tears normally drain through small openings at the inner corner of the eyelids, into the nose. When this channel is blocked, DCR (dacryocystorhinostomy) makes a new path for tears into the nose. Medicines or other tear-duct procedures, such as DCT, suit some patients.

Dr. Samir has performed more than 8,000 tear-duct, eyelid and orbital procedures across his career.

What to expect

  1. Examination

Dr. Samir checks the eyelids, eye surface and tear drainage. Tell him if one or both eyes water, and for how long.

  2. Your plan

If you need DCR, he explains the operation, any tube or stitches, and the recovery.

  3. Follow-up

Come for your planned check, even when the watering has improved.

Common questions

Does every watering eye need DCR?

No. The cause may be the eye surface or the eyelid, which needs a different treatment.

Can I book a nasur operation directly?

Book a check-up first. Dr. Samir confirms the cause before suggesting surgery.

Do eye drops open a blocked tear duct?

No. Drops can treat an infection or a surface problem, but they do not open a blocked duct.

What if the inner corner is red, painful and swollen?

Get urgent medical care, especially if you have a fever. Do not wait for a routine appointment.

My baby’s eye waters. Is it the same?

No. Babies and children need a different check. See our guide to watering eyes in babies.
